A WORLD WITHIN OUR CAMPUS
Life Prep Academy takes pride in being recognized for many years as one of the most multicultural schools in the state of Kansas, with students representing 42 countries. However, the true value of this diverse community is not measured by the number of nationalities represented, but by the way students learn, live, and grow together as an international family throughout their high school years.
Each semester, the International Food Festival is one of the school’s most anticipated events. Students from around the world collaborate to plan, prepare, and share traditional foods from their home countries. Through cuisine, cultural attire, music, and personal stories, each booth becomes a meaningful learning experience that promotes understanding, respect, and connection among different cultures.
This spirit of unity extends beyond cultural celebrations and is reflected throughout campus life — on athletic fields, in classrooms, and within the residential community. Life Prep Academy athletic teams bring together students from diverse backgrounds, languages, and countries who share the same team colors, goals, and commitment. At LPA, differences do not create barriers; they become a source of strength that helps students learn cooperation, support one another, and overcome challenges together.
Student life is further enriched through cultural traditions and community events such as Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, International Week, and many other activities throughout the academic year. Students are encouraged to express their individuality, creativity, and cultural identity through artistic performances, themed events, community service initiatives, and student-led projects.
At Life Prep Academy, an international community is more than a place where students from different countries study together. It is an essential part of the educational experience. Through living, learning, and growing in a multicultural environment, students develop a global perspective, adaptability, intercultural communication skills, and the confidence to succeed in universities and professional environments around the world.
RESIDENTIAL LIFE – MORE THAN A PLACE TO LIVE
Life Prep Academy’s residential program follows an On-Campus Dorm model, where students learn, live, and grow within a secure and connected campus environment. Residential advisors and faculty members live alongside students, providing daily guidance and support to help them adjust to a new environment, develop independence, and receive assistance whenever needed.
The residential facilities have been renovated from a four-star hotel complex and include four separate buildings designated for male and female students. The facilities are managed with comprehensive security systems and 24/7 surveillance. Each room is thoughtfully designed to provide privacy, comfort, and a quiet environment that supports student learning. Room assignments are carefully considered based on students’ ages, personalities, and living habits to create a positive and harmonious residential experience.
The campus is designed to support students’ academic, residential, athletic, and recreational needs. Students have access to a variety of shared facilities, including common rooms, recreation spaces with televisions, a piano, and games, group study areas, guest areas, laundry facilities, a cafeteria, swimming pool, multipurpose gymnasium, soccer fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and outdoor spaces for learning and physical activities.
Residential life is structured around a balanced schedule that includes after-school activities, athletic programs, clubs, field trips, cultural events, and international community activities. Each week, the school provides transportation to Walmart and local shopping centers for essential purchases. The school also supports students with airport transportation, transportation to banks and medical facilities, educational field experiences, extracurricular activities, and community service programs. Students receive ongoing assistance from school staff to meet their daily living and learning needs.
Life Prep Academy places strong emphasis on creating a residential environment that is safe, supportive, and community-centered. Through residential life, students learn to manage their time, care for themselves, respect cultural differences, collaborate with international peers, and develop essential life skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
For many international students, the residential community becomes more than a place to live during their years in the United States. It becomes a place where they build lifelong friendships, create meaningful experiences, and form lasting memories of their high school journey.
