Form I-20
For students enrolling at Life Prep Academy in the United States, the school provides guidance and support throughout the required preparation process after enrollment confirmation to help students meet U.S. government requirements, obtain an F-1 Student Visa, and begin their studies on schedule.
The Form I-20 is a Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status issued by Life Prep Academy to international students in accordance with the regulations of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The Form I-20 is required for students to:
- Apply for a U.S. F-1 Student Visa
- Enter the United States as an international student
- Maintain lawful student status throughout their period of study in the United States
The Form I-20 is issued only after a student has completed the admissions process, confirmed enrollment, and fulfilled all school requirements.
Each Form I-20 includes a unique SEVIS ID. After receiving the Form I-20, students must pay the required I-901 SEVIS fee according to U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations. The SEVIS fee payment receipt is one of the required documents for the F-1 visa interview at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
U.S. Student Visa Application (F-1)
After receiving the Form I-20, students complete the U.S. student visa application process in accordance with current U.S. regulations, including:
- Paying the SEVIS fee
- Completing the DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa Application
- Paying the visa application fee
- Scheduling a visa interview at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate
- Preparing required documentation and attending the F-1 visa interview
What Support Does the School Provide?
Throughout the visa preparation process, the Life Prep Academy Vietnam Office works closely with students and families by providing support in the following areas:
- Issuing the Form I-20
- Providing guidance on SEVIS fee payment
- Assisting with the preparation of visa application documents
- Reviewing and verifying documents before the visa interview
- Providing guidance on financial documentation requirements
- Conducting F-1 visa interview preparation
- Supporting pre-departure preparation and transition to studying in the United States
Maintaining F-1 Student Status
After enrollment, students must comply with U.S. regulations for F-1 international students, including:
- Maintaining full-time enrollment at Life Prep Academy
- Meeting academic and enrollment requirements
- Reporting changes in personal information or residential address to the Designated School Official (DSO)
- Obtaining DSO authorization before leaving and re-entering the United States during the academic program
- Following SEVP and U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations applicable to international students
Throughout the student’s academic journey, the school’s Designated School Officials (DSOs), Academic Advisors, Residential Life Team, and International Student Support Team provide ongoing guidance and assistance to help students maintain their lawful status while supporting their academic success, personal development, and adjustment to life in the U.S. educational environment.
