PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Middle School Program (Grades 6–8) at Life Prep Academy serves as a critical foundation for students’ long-term academic journey. Beginning a U.S.-based education during middle school provides students with valuable time to strengthen academic English skills, adapt to American teaching and learning methods, and develop essential study habits before entering the more academically rigorous high school years and college preparation process.
At Life Prep Academy, students build a strong foundation in American English through programs such as English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Development (ELD), and individualized TOEFL Preparation pathways based on their language proficiency. Beyond communication skills, students develop accurate pronunciation, academic writing skills, and reading comprehension strategies aligned with U.S. educational expectations, preparing them to confidently learn across all subjects in English.
Students are also gradually introduced to the learning approaches commonly used in U.S. secondary schools and universities, including academic research, analytical reading, critical thinking, presentations, collaboration, time management, and interdisciplinary projects. These skills are essential for academic success and often require significant preparation for international students who begin studying in the United States later in high school or at the university level.
Most importantly, the middle school years provide students with the time needed to adjust to the academic environment, culture, and daily life in the United States. Through this process, students develop confidence, independence, and adaptability within an international community. As they advance to high school, students are prepared to pursue Honors courses, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, college-level coursework, and a strong academic profile for admission to leading universities in the United States.
